And the community intelligence on the forums helps eveyone solve their problems. Great post Kat. I am really beginning to see the usefulness the camaraderie that forums offer.

You are an example of quality people that can be found in forums. Forums have always been used as a marketing tool, mostly used for networking with other members. Although you need to establish yourself as a maven before they actually listen to you. Some of us are not mavens at all. Some of us are constantly trying to improve who we are, who we know, and what we are about. There is always someone listening. As a long time forums owner, I do agree with most of your points. There are too many wannabe successful owners out there who love to abuse the system.

IE: Digitalpoint….. Mostly you just need to be a contributing member and continue to add value to the forum and other members of the forum. It can also help if you report spam and get to know some of the current moderators. The best part about forum traffic is tends to be pretty good traffic. A great deal of my subscribers first visited through a sig link on a forum.
Generally people are already sold on you before they visit your site. Mohsin, Google has been penalizing sites with text link ads by dropping their PageRank. Man i wish i came across this blog sooner. It would have helped me from being banned and disrespected on so many forums. So your saying that you shouldnt really post any sort of links to your website, until your more of a respected member in the community? So building traffic from forums, is more like a longer term strategy? The traffic only grows as you make more contributions and make yourself a valuable member of the community.
Definately a long — term strategy m but worth it. So this is great advice. I do it for several months and like it! I do really think i would become richer!!!! I find many people sign up — drop their link and leave. Your article was very informative. I like to join the forum and give comment…especially do follow blog…start to create free traffic….
Hi bro paris for president. Forums do generate a lot of traffic. If you are an informative poster, other forum members will want to hear more of what you have to say, and hence check out your website. Especially if the main forum topics are closely related to the topic of your blog. You cannot lose weight using Low Fat Diets.

Low fat foods have been popular for more than 15 years, but yet our society is getting more overweight as each year passes. This fact alone should tell you that eating a purely low fat menu is not the answer to losing weight. You can never get slim by starving yourself. Low carb menus tend to rob your body of too much energy carbohydrates and make it nearly impossible to remain on the program for very long. This is why so many dieters find it difficult to follow a strict low carbohydrate menu.
Weight loss programs such as Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig usually involve slower dieting progress over a longer period of time, since such programs generally promise only pounds of weight loss per week. While some people may like these types of dietary programs, we prefer a dieting plan which focuses on faster weight loss, such as the Accelerated Fat Burning Program shown below….

Now i know the tactics of using forum to drive traffic to your blog. Presently now am blogging and am trying to build audience to my forum. All the informations above are very useful including the coments. Thanks to all that post. I am an active member of Web Hosting Talk forum, and I really dont know how forums can add traffic to our site, but, it is a great feeling to post something meaningful there, and then someone will respond to you that you have a great idea and that it was a good reply. Anyway, I said I really dont know how forums worked but, when I read this article, its a great help actually.
Now, Im thinking about signing up to another forum, to build a network. I keep hearing about sitepoint. Would that be a good forum to start with? Forums can drive traffic to your blogs. If you posted on a comment on a forum and users sees your comment interesting and valuable then they will probably follow your link. Just provide that link on each post. I written some DoFollow forums that is a must see and try by you.

Classical error pages are very annoying. They really mess up the whole concentration of the visitor, and they immediately get off your website, and they really never gonna come again. Sitemaps can be really helpful. A quick and intelligent visitor nowadays prefers to be in the Site map page directly. I have got the maximum visitor count on Sitemap after the home page. So, having a site map really helped me. Their extra features also help my website to become increasingly popular day by day, by fetching genuine traffic for my clinical website.
I am on diff forums like digital point, sitepoint, webhostingtalk, hackforums. Excellent post! I use forums often and they are a great place to get traffic. I find that if you are using forums to drive traffic that you stick with those that are topic or niche specific. It should go without saying but I see a lot of people make this mistake, especially those using forums for marketing.
Again, great post and thanks for sharing. As someone who has close connections with a successful commercial website nothing to do with my poetry and not linked to in any way from it and not mentioned here for many years I have to say that I shy away from joining forums to drive traffic. I join forums because they are in my sphere of interest and become involved with them because I have that in common with the other members.
I suppose what I am saying is that if you want a long term steady solid relationship with visitors who return time and again then the best way to do that is provide something they want and provide it consistently well. Lots of traffic is not necessarily a good thing if it is just people who pop in from curiosity and then never return. I get visitors to my poetry blogs from forums I take part in — but that is a side effect rather than the reason I joined the forums. In any case compared to the number of people who come to me from search engines — because they are specifically looking for what I provide, the forum visitors are a drop in the ocean.
I think forums are a very underestimated tool to build traffic.
